How to prepare for Valentine’s Day

With the new year well underway, it won’t be long before the shops are filled with pink and red hearts, declarations of love and romantic gifts. Valentine’s Day is a yearly event that lots of couples look forward to.

Valentine’s Day is a chance to reconnect with your significant other and remind them exactly why you love them so much. There are many ways to celebrate, so here are some tips to help you prepare for Valentine’s Day.

Discuss expectations

Like many aspects of a relationship, communication around Valentine’s Day is key. As the day approaches, take time to sit with your partner and discuss both of your expectations. This could be whether you want to go out for a meal or indulge in a takeaway at home.

You should also discuss the intimacy side of the day. Valentine’s Day may conjure up certain expectations from either partner, so it is important to be clear on your boundaries to make sure everyone has a fun time whilst feeling respected.

Plan ahead

Valentine’s Day is a very busy day in the hospitality industry, so you will need to plan ahead if you want to eat out. Set a reminder in your phone to book a table at your favourite eatery at least a few weeks before the day.

The same applies to cards and presents if you are ordering online. Ordering early means you can be sure they will arrive in advance of the day. Alternatively, you could pop into the shops and pick up everything you need – just remember to do it before the day itself!

Feel your best

However you decide to mark the day, it is important that you feel your best. Dressing up can help to boost your confidence so you could treat yourself to a new outfit. Start with underwear that is going to make you feel amazing. A sexy bra can work wonders for both you and your partner!

It could be that confidence is something you need to work on. Start doing some positive affirmations now or add a couple of steps to your skincare routine  so that the results start to show ready for Valentine’s Day.

Don’t forget the details

Often it is the smaller details that help your partner to feel loved and appreciated. Maybe there is a new restaurant that they have mentioned wanting to try or one that has a special memory for them. By booking these, you are demonstrating that you have listened and remembered something important.

If you are planning a romantic evening, you may want to book an afternoon off work, or at least finish early. Again, this will show that you really want to spend time with your partner.
