Molly’s Game, 2017

Molly Bloom is leaving her sports career due to a serious injury and trying to figure out how to move on with her life. In Los Angeles, she meets a businessman, Dean, who owns an underground casino. The establishment is where the big bets are placed by people with millions in their accounts. Molly looks out at first, and when she starts to understand the rules of the game, Dean fires her, but the girl isn’t an easy one: she opens her own establishment and gradually poaches the clients of her former boss. And the things happening there are far from being legal gambling entertainment, like placing the bet on sports or spinning the roulette wheel. 

We should add that the movie is based on the real story of Molly Bloom, played by the beautiful Jessica Chastain. The actress was nominated for a Golden Globe for this role, and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin received Golden Globe and Oscar nominations.

The Thomas Crown Affair, 1999

Multi-billionaire Thomas Crown pulls off the perfect heist, framing hired robbers and stealing a Claude Monet painting himself. The beautiful and intelligent Catherine comes to help the powerless cops. She’s a detective from an insurance company; she immediately finds out about this intricate and witty case of Crown’s hands and begins the game. Thomas realizes he’s being hunted and gets involved. Famous director Giuseppe Tornatore admitted that he thought out his art detective, or rather a romantic drama, for two decades. Although some critics wrote that the movie was predictable, the audience liked it. The movie is beautiful, saturated with expensive things, and there is classical music, but the ending is quite sad.

Focus, 2015
