Jasmine Tookes is one of the world’s hottest supermodels right now. She has modeled for many top brands and, she is among the highest-paid models. Tookes has had an incredible rise to the top. She is another top model who has been influenced by Tyra Banks.
Jasmine isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. She is in her prime, and it looks like she is here to stay.

She is of mixed ethnicity
Jasmine was born on 1st February 1991, and she grew up in Huntington Beach, California. She is a mixture of European, Brazilian, African, and West Indian descent. This mixture gives her a unique look, which is a photographer’s dream.
Jasmine always aspired to be a model. When she was young, she used to appear on shoots with her mother, who was a celebrity fashion stylist. Her role model while growing up was Tyra Banks and other Victoria’s Secret Models such as Gisele Bundchen.
She told Glamour that she would mimic the models at their hallway at home;
“I would do little fashion shows for my mom walking down the hallway wishing it was me with my little wings, so I think it would be a childhood dream.”
She was discovered when she was 15
It was only a matter of time before Jasmine was discovered at a showroom appointment, and she was sent over to a modeling agency in Los Angeles.
Her first photo shoot was for Abercrombie & Fitch with photographer Bruce Weber. In 2010, she landed her first commercial ad campaigns for Gap and UGG Australia. In 2012, Jasmine booked for her first show and, it was a very emotional moment for her. However, she told Glamour that her agent didn’t seem to be quite as excited as her;
“When I got my first call from my agent to say I booked it he just said it so nonchalant…I called my mom and I was screaming and crying. It was a really emotional day.”
Her career shot up from there and, Vogue named her one of the models to watch in 2012/13 after she appeared in many runway shows during Fashion Week. Jasmine has appeared in editorials for magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Numéro. She has also made the cover on magazines such as Elle France, Vogue, and Harper’s Bazaar.
She has also modeled for fashion designers such as Calvin Klein, Tom Ford, Marchesa, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Armani, Oscar de la Renta, and many more. She told The Cut that she particularly loved modeling for Versace and Louis Vuitton;
“I loved Versace and Louis Vuitton. If I have to choose one, though, I would have to say Louis Vuitton. It was all very dreamy – the music, carousel, clothes – everything was beautiful.”
She wore the Fantasy Bra for Victoria’s Secret
For most models, becoming a Victoria’s Secret Angel is the ultimate dream. Jasmine achieved that dream in 2015 when Victoria’s Secret confirmed her and other models as Angels. She had previously modeled at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2012.
Jasmine had finally achieved her lifelong dream. It got so much better for Jasmine when she was selected to wear the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Fantasy Bra. The 2016 Fantasy Bra was worth $3 million. Jasmine became the 3rd black model to wear the bra after Tyra Banks and Selita Ebanks.
Jasmine chose to keep the news a secret for five months. The only people who knew were her mom, her grandmother, and the models who were present when she got the news. She told Elle;
“It was so hard to keep this a secret because it’s something so exciting that you want to share with everybody, so for me to keep my mouth shut I literally had to bite my tongue every time I wanted to say it.”
Jasmine learned that Victoria’s Secret doesn’t leave anything to chance when it comes to designing and modeling the Fantasy Bra. She had to have her upper body immersed in plaster for three hours to allow the stylists to get the exact bra measurements. She told Elle that she almost couldn’t breathe because the slightest movements would mess up the measurements.
She also had to train her back to deal with the weight of the bra. The bra weighed more than 450 carats meaning that it was quite a load. As the show got nearer, Jasmine asked former Fantasy Bra wearer, Lily Aldridge, how to deal with the emotions during the show. She told Elle;
“She told me to just relax. I was like ‘Lily, what if I cry? What’s going to happen?’ She was like ‘Oh, I cried a little backstage but I just had to close my eyes and breathe and really just embrace the moment. You’ll be fine! Just relax!”
The day finally arrived and, she looked gorgeous in the Fantasy Bra. She had finally achieved her lifelong dream.
She is a fitness fanatic
Jasmine always maintained high levels of fitness, even when she was young. When growing up she played softball and, she was pretty good at it. She told Glamour:
“I struck girls out left and right. That was my life. And I ended up quitting actually because I was getting too fit to model and modeling was my dream.”
She also participated in gymnastics and volleyball. Jasmine has maintained her high fitness levels throughout her career. Jasmine loves working with weights since it prepares her for any outfit she might be asked to model.
She also does a lot of squats and plyometrics. These exercises help with her abs and her butt. Jasmine also has a joint Instagram account with fellow VS Angel Josephine Skriver, which features healthy eating tips and gym advice. The account also features innovative ways to work out with your best friend.
Jasmine also has a few guilty pleasures. She enjoys pizza and burgers. However, she told The Cut that it doesn’t seem to affect her weight;
“I hate to say this, but I’m one of those people with an extremely fast metabolism. I eat, eat, and yet I can’t seem to gain any weight…I LOVE pizza…I think I could eat pizza every day.”
Her mom is her biggest motivator and friend
Jasmine shares a close relationship with her mom. Her mom gave her the exposure she needed to make it as a model. However, she was strict when it came to makeup. Jasmine told Into The Gloss that her mom didn’t let her wear makeup until she was 18;
“When I finally got my hands on mascara, I was so excited! I don’t remember what brand it was, but it was probably one of hers that I just took out of her bag.”
Mascara was her first makeup, and it remains her most favorite.
Jasmine talked to The Cut about how close she is to her mom. She said that if she were stranded on an island, the one person she would choose to be with would be her mom. Jasmine’s mom is usually the first person that Jasmine calls any time she gets some big news.
She split up with her long-term boyfriend, Tobias Sorensen, in 2016
Jasmine and Tobias met in a night club in New York City. Tobias approached her, but Jasmine initially gave him a wrong number. He approached again before he left the club, and he asked out on a coffee date. Jasmine decided to give him a chance and, she gave him the correct number.
For a couple of months, Jasmine played hard to get. However, they eventually went out on a date, and they hit it off immediately. Their relationship seemed very strong, and they shared their experiences on social media. Tobias is a model and the couple modeled for a Calvin Klein fragrance campaign.
However, the couple split up in 2016. Jasmine didn’t give a reason for the breakup, but they remain good friends.
She is currently dating Juan David Borrero
Jasmine is currently dating Juan David Borrero. He is a Snapchat Partnerships Manager. The couple started dating in 2016 and, they made their first public appearance at Halloween 2016. The couple dressed up as Jasmine and Aladdin from the Disney’s Aladdin.
From then on, Jasmine has treated fans to photos of their relationship. There are many cute photos of the couple on Instagram. On 29th September 2018, Jasmine posted a photo on Instagram of the couple celebrating their second anniversary. She captioned the photo;
“365 X 2. #HappiestDaysOfMyLife.”
Jasmine aspires to have kids. The Cut asked her where she sees herself in ten years and, she answered;
“Hopefully with my own cosmetics line and happily married with kids.”
Her fans hope that her dreams will soon turn into reality. At the moment, she is enjoying life with Juan as the couple looks forward to their 3rd anniversary.
She had an embarrassing moment with her grandpa
A superstar model like Jasmine gets to do a lot of shoots for a lot of brands. At one time, she did a photo shoot for Sports Illustrated and, her grandpa got to see the photos.
However, Jasmine’s grandpa thought that the photos were for Playboy. Jasmine revealed to Vogue:
“…and my grandpa called me and asked when my issue for Playboy was coming out. It was hilarious as well as embarrassing.”
Her sister wants to follow in her footsteps
Jasmine comes from a fashion-conscious family. Her mother is a celebrity stylist while she is a famous model. Jasmine’s sister, Chloe Danielle, wants to follow her into the modeling industry. Jasmine is 19 years older than her sister.
Jasmine told Into The Gloss;
“…my younger sister wants to model. She’ll dress up like me during the shows and walk around the house. She’s already a full-blown diva.”
Chloe is lucky that she has a supermodel sister to look up to.
She has a unique skincare routine
Jasmine takes a lot of care when it comes to her skin. She told Elle that her motivation for eating clean is to maintain her skin.
However, she has another unique skincare routine that keeps her skin healthy. Her mom taught her to ice her skin every day before she went to bed. After she washes her face, she rubs an ice cube on her face until it’s finished. The ice cube closes the pores tightly and, it helps her wake up with a perfect complexion. She even influenced her boyfriend to start the skincare routine.
She also told Into The Gloss that she uses Vitamin E moisturizer on her skin;
“I also put Vitamin E on my skin – just pop the little pill capsules from Duane Reade or wherever and rub the oil on your face. It’s the best moisturizer.”
She considers the VS models as part of her family
Jasmine’s anointment as a VS Angel gave her a lot of exposure in the industry. Victoria’s Secret also gave her a set of close friends. Jasmine is particularly close to Josephine Skriver, Romy Strijd, and Taylor Hill.
She talked to Elle about her relationship with the other models;
“One thing that I loved from becoming an Angel is all of the friends, all the other girls. We are such a close little group and I love that we can have a sisterhood…I could call any of them at 3 a.m., they’re all so sweet and we’re always there for each other.”
